
About me
Juan Carlos Quintana is a Director, Writer and Visual Effects Artist, born just outside of New York in Jersey City New Jersey. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Effects and Motion Graphics from Miami International University of Art and Design. Recently, he obtained his Masters in Fine Arts in Aesthetics and Creation from Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira.
While at Miami International Juan Carlos studied directing, and researching, creation, and developing of audiovisual projects under Billy Corben, Director of the documentary "Cocaine Cowboys".
As a writer, Juan was mentored by the one and only, Crissa Jean Chappell, Ph.d. author of Total Constant Order and Narc. Under Crissa's guidance, Juan further refined his writing in various genres, such as Narrative, Fiction and Short Story.
Juan has also worked with Actor, Producer and Director, Danny DeVito on post production and collaborated on several short films.
Juan's first big break came on the movie "Clash of the Titans", where he is credited for rotoscoping and as a Paint Artist. Shortly thereafter, he was credited in several subsequent films, such as "Skyline" and "Gulliver´s Travels". From there, his professional career continued growing, working on numerous high profile films, such as "Thor", "Captain America: The First Avenger", James Cameron's "Titanic 3D"; "The Avengers", "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", "Katy Perry: Part of Me", Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park 3D", "Hansel & Gretel: WitchHunters", "G. I. Joe Retaliation", and Guillermo del Toro's, "Pacific Rim".
In 2014, Juan directed and released his first short film, titled "Herida Abierta". The movie tells the story of a young executive, who loses his family as result of an armed assault, in his pain Mr. Contreras, leaves everything behind, becoming homeless, and awaits a phone call that will change his life.
Juan Carlos also held a photography exhibition in Santa Rosa de Cabal, Colombia. The theme was Maschismo and Feminism. Another photography exhibition was held by the artist in Montreal, Canada, with his collection "The First Temptation". Juan often uses artistic nudity in his work.
Juan also taught at Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira and Fundación Universitaria del Area Andina. He enjoys mentoring and teaching students, sharing his experience and fostering creative thought amongst the next generation of artists.
